Position Overview:

Digital Waters is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Relations Manager to join our team. This role is crucial for crafting guidelines for public engagement, researching opportunities to introduce our organization to the public, and performing other typical PR duties. The ideal candidate will be passionate about environmental conservation and have a strong background in public relations, communications, or a related field. This is a part time, volunteer role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Public Engagement Strategy:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance the visibility and reputation of Digital Waters.
    • Craft guidelines for consistent and effective engagement with the public, stakeholders, and media.
  2. Media Relations:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and environmental media outlets.
    • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other PR materials.
  3. Content Creation:
    • Create engaging content for press releases, articles, social media, and the Digital Waters website.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure cohesive and effective messaging across all channels.
  4. Research and Outreach:
    • Identify and research opportunities to introduce Digital Waters to new audiences and communities.
    • Organize and manage events, webinars, and other public engagement activities.
  5. Crisis Management:
    • Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address any potential PR issues or emergencies.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all media inquiries during a crisis.
  6. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor media coverage and public perception of Digital Waters.
    • Prepare regular reports on PR activities, media coverage, and the effectiveness of PR strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in public relations, preferably in the non-profit or environmental sector.
  • Proven track record of successful media relations and public engagement strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for environmental conservation and the mission of Digital Waters.
