Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and passionate Data Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing our growing volume of data to uncover valuable insights that can drive our mission forward. You will leverage AI and other intelligent data analysis tools to identify patterns, trends, and actionable information from our data. This role is pivotal in helping us make data-driven decisions to enhance water quality monitoring and community empowerment. This is a part time, volunteer role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Develop and implement machine learning models and AI algorithms to interpret complex data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
- Create and maintain data pipelines to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and accessible.
- Communicate findings to stakeholders through reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science, AI, and machine learning.
- Provide guidance on data collection methods and data management practices to ensure data integrity and quality.
- Assist in the development of predictive models to forecast water quality changes and potential environmental impacts.
- Support the continuous improvement of our data analysis processes and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical role.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn).
- Strong skills in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib).
- Solid understanding of database management and SQL.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with environmental or water quality data is a plus.
