Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide strategic direction and oversight on maintaining our financial records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and implementing robust financial processes. This role is crucial for the financial health and integrity of our organization, supporting both our non-profit mission and our operational goals. This is a part time, volunteer role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee the organization’s financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare and file all necessary tax documents, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Audit Preparation: Coordinate and prepare for annual audits, working closely with external auditors.
  • Financial Processes: Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective financial operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all non-profit financial regulations and standards, including those specific to B-Corp certification if applicable.
  • Grant Management: Oversee financial aspects of grant applications and reporting, ensuring proper allocation and usage of funds.
  • Strategic Planning: Provide financial insights and recommendations to support the organization’s strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Training and Support: Educate and support team members on financial best practices and compliance requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably with experience in the non-profit sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical financial management.
